Blog 4: Indestructible

At this moment I feel euphoric at the fact that I am half way through a semester, but at the same time I attain a feeling of nervousness with the oncoming storm of testing that will test the mettle that's become my mind through the information my teachers have battered my brain with. Either feeling will not change my determination to give this semester a swift kick in the rear when it comes to the test it bares down on me. I will crush these test, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentation of their forces because they will not best me in any way shape or form. The end of the semester can hold many things that I am excited for despite the amount of work that comes with it, but along with those tough things comes parties and things that friends have not to mention the all important Halloween that could not come sooner considering its a personally favorite holiday. These pro's and con's to the future can give context to the following few months which are difficult to say the least, but never impossible to overcome with the strength offered by peers, family, and friends. With the strength of my allies I will take this semester by force, and no matter what or how ill make it through this. I am ready for whatever curve ball the rest of this semester will try to throw at me, and I know it does not stand a chance. I will kinda be like this guy

Pious  adjective

Example: The priest completes his duties in hopes that his PIOUS behavior will affect his attendants on Sunday.

Vigil noun

Example: The mourning members of the family held a VIGIL throughout the night for any friends that would like to pay respect.

Censure noun

"I feared ridicule and censure." pg.42

Example: The man’s ridiculous outburst lead to his CENSURE in group decisions due to the fear he was sweeping through the party.

Blog 3: A few days in the life of Me.

A few plans here and there happened these past few weeks that were thoroughly discussed between family and friends. In particular my birthday was last Monday and since I had school literally nothing was done all day so you could say it was rather disappointing. Despite that other plans were made on Tuesday to liven the attitude, and many friends attended a few festivities my family put together for my sake or else I would've just let my birthday go by without anything happening. Another party is actually coming along due to the fact that my cousin has just graduated film school and his final project was a movie he created with a few classmates, and he was kind enough to have a few family members (myself not included) to be apart of the film so our family is gathering to watch it which I am excited for. These plans will come to fruition if my anyone blood related to me has anything to say about it, and were all ecstatic to see my cousin move on in his life from this to where he wants to go in that industry. Plans in the coming weeks may be difficult to hold with classes and work, but if family or friends are involved I will try my hardest to see them. Recently time has been so limited, and contact fades so easily unless its constantly given attention. So I wont let the ties loosen from their TAUT places in my life no matter what it takes.

E.A.S.Y I understood this word through the examples it uses by describing the clouds and sky in such a dark and turbulent time

Personal Sentence: The Serenity of the teachers style lead to him falling asleep several times in class.

Resignation

Quote:" Some carried themselves with a wistful resignation others with pride or stiff soldierly discipline or good humor or macho zeal." (page 19)

E.A.S.Y I used my logic to explain the definition through the context clues of Resignation with a Dictionary Definition.

Personal Sentence: After years of abuse he finally tended his Resignation into his boss.

Profound

Quote:" The guy's dead he kept saying, which seemed profound, the guy's dead" (Page 12)

E.A.S.Y I used My logic because I knew the definition of the word before reading this passage, but with this context it gave it a different lens to view it through

Personal Sentence: He had a Profound thought in the philosophical discussion he and his friends held.

Blog 2: Habits of the Mind

Applying Knowledge To New Situations

In the context of applying knowledge to new situations in my personal experience is a little uncommon, but those of you who've played fighting games would understand. Taking the experience of one Fighting game and applying it to the other gives the players a certain level of context to outline how to play the game. I've experienced it many times going from one game to another that share nothing in common other then the genre, but if you apply the things you've gained from one game and share it with another then things gain a level of relative ease.

Persistence

Persistence and perseverance are in the same vein when explained through the context of the Micheal Jordan commercial. When I was young I outweighed several of my peers on the football team I played on. Several coaches wanted to move me up in divisions, but I was either to big for my team now or to small for the next division. So in the end I made a tough decision for myself, and decided to lose the weight so I could play with my friends. For weeks I spent running, dieting, and all things needed to lose the weight. Eventually through perseverance and persistence I lost so much weight I could play with my peers and I couldn't have been prouder of myself for enduring those weeks.

Striving For Accuracy,

I consider striving for accuracy, and persistence very similar in terms of lessons. Because if I didn't have the persistence to strive for accuracy then neither would be accomplished. It takes several levels of determination to ensure that above and beyond work is completed, and I apply those every day in either the small things I do or the big things that have to be done. Whether it be homework, Working out, or any other dilemma that might cross my path I either have to take with an attitude for the best or I might as well not try.
